Phuthu | Polenta | Pap is the story of immigration from South Africa to Italy and back again told through the slow process of cooking. In the proverbial kitchen, whilst food is being prepared, stories and nibbles are shared whilst waiting for the main meal. As the yellow and white maize of two vastly different cultures slowly churns, viewers are invited into a story about the parallels of coloniality, resistance, and love across two continents, letting the ruminative effects of time wash over them as they sit-with that which both comforts and disturbs.
