Please Be Seated.

The performance installation titled You Can Choose Your Own Hierarchical Position In Life While You Sip Your Latte – OR – Please Be Seated, was exhibited as part of KZNSA Gallery’s show, Know This Place?. People were offered coffee and invited to sit and read as I wrote various drafts of a conflicting experience at a protest march against gender-based violence: what was meant to be a collective moment to grieve, rage, and lament, became an excuse for middle class strolls with coffee in hand. My performance became my form of protest and lament in which the audience could partake.
